Future Coders is a small local company. The classes have been running since 2018 but the company was formally incorporated in the end of 2021. In 2022, we are looking to develop more classes to appeal to a wider age-range. Our mission is to ensure that as many kids as possible have the chance to learn these skills which will be vital in their future.
Meet the teacher
Hi. My name is Glenn Wickins and for the past few years, I have been teaching coding to kids. I started these classes because my son had an interest in coding and there were no reasonably-priced coding schools in Palmerston North. So I started one.
For most of my career, I have been an ESL teacher. I think that gives me a unique perspective on how students develop fluency in a language that is foreign to them. My experience is in building environments where the students are exposed to the language in interesting situations and creating motivation to produce the language through interesting activities.
A few years ago, I changed course and studied Computer Science at Massey. This gave me a good understanding of computer languages. This knowledge along with more than 20 years of classroom experience and a passion for teaching means that I am more than qualified to help your child develop an understanding of how computer languages work.
I look forward to discussing how our programs can benefit your kids.
We aim to be the best kids' coding school in New Zealand judged by how confidently the students learn to problem-solve and how creatively they build using these and other creative platforms.
